High Temperature Tooling Foam

LAST-A-FOAM® FR-4700 TOOLING FOAM BOARD

Our advanced LAST-A-FOAM® FR-4700 high-temperature polyurethane tooling foam can withstand peak temperatures up to 400° F (200°C) and continuous-use temperatures up to 350° F (177°C) – significantly more than other products on the market. This series is non-abrasive and can be machined with standard high-speed steel (HSS) cutting tools. It can also be cut cleanly with water jets and traditional wood-carving tools. Affordable and dimensionally stable, this rigid foam board is ideal for prototype machining, high-temperature curing prepregs, vacuum forming, pattern making, and other limited-run tooling where traditional metal dies are cost-prohibitive. The FR-4700 high-temp series of high-density polyurethane tooling board foam is available in various densities. This high-performance material is an excellent choice for all of your high-temperature needs.

Machinability

Our FR-4700 tooling board is non-abrasive and can easily be machined to meet product applications. It is recommended that you do a rough cut first, leaving 1-3 mm of material for finishing.  Use caution at edges and tight corners to avoid chipping at the start of a new pathway and when exiting the foam.  See our Tooling & Molds User Guide for more information like roughing speed, finishing speed, and other machining information.
