General Plastics to Feature FST/OSU Compliant Core Material at CAMX in Dallas, TX

TACOMA, Wash. – Oct 20, 2015 – A longtime supplier to the global aerospace and defense industry, General Plastics Manufacturing Company will be highlighting its fire, smoke, and toxicity (FST) compliant polyurethane foam cores, the FR-3800 FST series, and their molded parts program at the Composite Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX) in Dallas, Texas, Booth ZA77.

As the first halogen-free polyurethane foam that satisfies fire, smoke, toxicity (FST) requirements and Ohio State University (OSU) 65/65 standards, General Plastics’ LAST-A-FOAM® FR-3800 FST Performance Core Series is available in a full range of densities from 3 to 40 pounds per cubic foot. The product contains similar mechanical properties of the well-known FR-3700 & FR-6700 Aerospace-Grade Core Material Series, while meeting the FST and OSU requirements. It withstands process temperatures up to 310º Fahrenheit, providing a larger processing window to manufacture composite parts.

“We are always working to better our products,” says General Plastics President, Bruce Lind. “If you are in aircraft interiors, and you need the material to perform well in addition to satisfying all fire safety requirements, our LAST-A-FOAM® FR-3800 FST series does just that. It represents the next generation of composite cores.”

Attendees can also expect to see other General Plastics’ composite core products as well as a highlight of custom molded parts capabilities.

About LAST-A-FOAM® FR-3800 FST Performance Core Series
Available in bun and sheet stock, the LAST-A-FOAM® FR-3800 FST Performance Core series is ideal for commercial aircraft interiors. It satisfies fire, smoke and toxicity (FST) and Ohio State University (OSU) 65/65 heat release requirements for aerospace applications. An excellent core material alternative to PVC foam and honeycomb, the material is halogen-free and its cellular and crosslinked structure equates to a high strength-to-weight ratio. Used in conjunction with other materials, it helps improve aesthetics and reduces costs while meeting fire safety requirements.
