BLAST-TAMER Wall System Advantages:

  • Allows igloo storage-capacity increase for Hazard Class / Division 1.1 explosives--up to 8X previous capacity limit
  • Permits storage of different (compatible) munitions types under the same roof
  • Reduces storage-site "clear-zone" size requirements
  • Improves space utilization in existing structures at low cost
  • Installs easily, requires no maintenance
  • Retro-fits to many structures of different sizes and shapes

BLAST-TAMER Wall System Product Description:

The BLAST-TAMER Wall System incorporates advanced-technology polyurethane foam and common ballast material into a reliable, cost-effective, easy-to-assemble explosive-blast damping and containment structure for use inside existing explosive and ordnance storage facilities.

Through use of the BLAST-TAMER Wall System, explosive-storage facility capacity expands at little cost while maintaining security. Should an explosive incident occur, the combination of strong, flame-resistant, energy-absorbing foam with inert ballast shatters, reducing explosive force and damage. At the same time, it decreases the risk of fratricidal explosive initiation of other energetic materials in the building.

The heart of the system is General Plastics Manufacturing Company’s LAST-A-FOAM‚ FR-7307 flame-resistant structural foam. Unaffected by aging, most solvents and chemicals, heat, cold, or moisture, FR-7307 surpasses other foam materials while maintaining safety in an explosive-material environment. Compared to other foam products, LAST-A-FOAM‚ FR-7307 is strong and lightweight, while providing a fire-safety advantage not found in other similar products. When combined with a sand-ballast system, the foam provides a long lasting, easy-to-install structure with excellent fragment and energy-absorbing properties.
