Flexible foam

Flexible foams for molded parts, sheets and blocks

General Plastics offers open-cell semi-flexible and flexible polyurethane foams that deliver efficiency while absorbing energy at a consistent, controlled rate. LAST-A-FOAM® flexible and semi-flexible foams can be used in series or parallel to relieve static stress on flexible shock attenuation material, or to break up resonance or change shock pulse frequencies. LAST-A-FOAM® high-density flexible foams can withstand temperatures up to 160˚F and reduced temperatures, although at subzero the foam can become significantly firmer.

General Plastics flexible foam products are used within a molded-foam-part program. We can assist in part design, tool design, mold-tooling manufacture, and production of parts through all phases to completion.  We also custom formulate appropriate flexible foam systems to make just the part you need.

Semi-Flexible Foam

LAST-A-FOAM® EF-4000 Series
LAST-A-FOAM® TF 5070 Series

Extremely durable and relatively unharmed by environmental factors, both of these foam series are formulated to absorb significant energy while protecting payloads, such as missiles and nuclear submarine launch tubes. In construction, they are used as shock-isolation systems for earthquake-prone buildings. Other applications include shock mounts and pads for delicate equipment in shipping containers, and vibration damper pads for mechanical equipment. Also available in sheets and blocks.

FOAM-COMBTM Honeycomb Gap Seals

Multipurpose seal and filler used within the aerospace industry. FOAM-COMB consists of flexible-foam-filled Nomex® honeycomb material. Lightweight and rigid in one direction yet flexible in the other, it is ideal for interior trim parts, and areas that require noise reduction.

Flexible Foam

LAST-A-FOAM® WSF-1010
LAST-A-FOAM® WSF-1121

These flame-retardant, durable, self-skinning foams are used extensively in aircraft flight decks and cabin applications. The softer, more pliable LAST-A-FOAM® WSF-1010 Series is ideal for interior gap seals where aesthetics are important. Airframe manufacturers use the harder, more durable LAST-A-FOAM® WSF-1121 Series for molded and fabricated flight-deck padding and aircraft interior parts. Both materials are self-extinguishing and can be custom-molded to each client’s exacting specification.

Our molded semi-flexible and flexible foam parts have been used in:

RTM/VARTM core applications
Sub-munition weapon packaging
Prosthetic-limb manufacturing
Aircraft interior for cabin and flight deck parts
