  LAST-A-FOAM FR-4300 builds Big Boot!
A FR-4300 Formable Foam Application

Red Wing Shoes participated in the February, 2005 contest for the World's Record for the Largest Leather Boot at the World Shoe Association Show in Las Vegas, NV.

This project incorporated a lot of different materials in order to be successful. LAST-A-FOAM FR-4305, FR-4310, and FR-4315 were used in the construction of this monster, which is based on a standard size 9D boot at 20:1 scale. About 245 cubic feet of urethane foam went into the completed boot--not all of it LAST-A-FOAM.

This boot, based on a classic Red Wing design originally introduced in 1952, was officially certified by the Guiness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Leather Boot.

It is classed as a size 638D, weighs about 2,300 lbs., and required 80 leather hides to complete. The efforts of over 60 Red Wing employees were needed to make this boot, where each eyelet weighs 4 pounds. About 4,000 man-hours were required to complete the model.

This boot would fit a person approximately 120 feet tall.
